Originally founded in Paddington, Papillon relocated to Avalon’s golden coastline in 2018, and quickly established itself as one of the most in-demand salons across the Northern Beaches. Our stylists, service and products are the very best of the best, and work together to deliver our clients an experience like no other.
Like the butterfly our name is inspired by, Papillon is all about beautiful transformation. Our space has been designed to offer a home from home - somewhere our community can come for sanctuary, knowing they’ll leave looking fabulous and feeling replenished.
Papillon is certified as an official ‘Sustainable Salon’, upholding the highest standards in terms of waste management, team training and overall social responsibility. Every brand of product we use is chemical free and chosen for minimal harm and maximum performance.

Deborah Raymond
DIRECTOR & STYLIST
Deborah has been living and breathing hairdressing for more than 20 years. Her wholly bespoke approach centres on creating understated, effortlessly chic hair, by working with - rather than against - her clients’ natural textures. Always taking the time to listen and understand each client’s personal goals means every treatment is tailored specifically to their needs.
Over two decades of working in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Deborah has attracted a devoted following for her precise colouring techniques, cutting and styling expertise and commitment to perfection. She takes special pleasure in free hand painting and accomplishing impeccable Hollywood foils.
Her lustrous industry experience includes shoots for Australian fashion titles, being a hairstylist for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and a regular name in Vogue forums and beauty blogs.
Today, Deborah is happily settled in a new chapter of life of Avalon with her husband Ben and their two young sons. She loves the creativity, community and natural beauty of the neighbourhood and relishes her time with like-minded clients, both old and new.

Stephen Grech
SALON MANAGER & STYLIST
Stephen is our incredible salon manager. Trained in the Eastern Suburbs, he made the move to the Northern Beaches and brought over 10 years of hairdressing experience with him. His hairdressing journey has taken him from salons to the catwalk, on photo shoots, and around the world. He is known and loved for his killer cuts, razor skills, stunning upstyles and the magic he can make with short hair.
Stephen is a two time Australian Cutting Competition winner, and now also specialises in luxury blondes, creating the perfect highlights and big long hair blowouts. There’s nothing he can’t achieve for his clients. Book in and you’ll soon see for yourself!

Stephanie Forster is a rising star at Papillon Hair, with a deep passion for creating magical transformations on the salon floor. Her motivation and absolute love for her job are evident in her work.
As a local of the Northern Beaches, Stephanie has developed a genuine affinity for all things hair. Her positive and caring attitude towards her clients and craft consistently delivers stunning results. She excels in creating perfect blonde foils, and her cutting skills are highly regarded. Stephanie is also known for her exceptional blowouts, leaving clients with a flawless finish.
Stephanie's commitment to continuous growth is evident through her attendance at numerous courses throughout the year. She has even had the privilege of participating in two fashion weeks, including this year's 2023 fashion week as a member of the esteemed Original Mineral team.

SENIOR STYLIST
Meet Claudia, the newest addition to the Papillon Hair family! With an impressive 14-year journey in the world of hairdressing, starting her craft at the young age of 16, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our salon. Having owned her own salon in South Australia for 5 years, she knows the ins and outs of the industry like no other.
Specialising in blondes, balayage, and lived-in colour, she has a keen eye for creating stunning looks that perfectly complement her clients' features and personalities. But her dedication doesn't stop at aesthetics; she's deeply passionate about maintaining the health and integrity of her clients' hair while helping them achieve their hair goals.
Beyond the salon chair, you'll often find her outdoors, soaking up the sun at the beach with her husband and adorable 1-year-old daughter. Being an active member of Avalon's community, she finds joy in connecting with others and making a positive impact wherever she goes.

Meet Monika, a seasoned hair stylist with 8 years of industry experience. After completing her 3-year hairdressing studies, she honed her skills in Prague before bringing her talent to Australia in 2019. Monika has a passion for haircuts and coloring, and her dedication to the craft shines through in every client's experience. With a sweet and gentle nature, she has a special touch that attracts clients who seek a relaxed and comforting atmosphere. Monika is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays and looks forward to welcoming you at Papillon.
